Walt Disney World

Favorite character dining experiences are also in the Magic Kingdom park, including Cinderella's Royal Table in her castle (get reservations as far in advance as possible!) and Be Our Guest, with three different dining areas in the Beast's gorgeous French ballroom, East Wing, and Belle's treasured library.  Don't miss the fun performances by Disney princesses and characters on the castle fortress throughout the day, but the "Happily Ever After" projection and fireworks show each evening on and over her exterior castle walls will give you goosebumps as you reminisce with images of Disney movies and characters from your childhood and today.

Disney's Hollywood Studios is home to both Star Wars Galaxy's Edge AND Toy Story lands, and is another Disney favorite theme park for all ages! Star Wars' Rise of the Resistance is a ride, show, and escape adventure all packed into one, where Dark Side imperial forces take the guests as hostages!  A longer ride, it's difficult to picture this ride ever being eclipsed by any other in its popularity.  Also in Star Wars land, fly the Millennium Falcon as a pilot, gunner, or engineer for a different experience each time  and try Blue Milk in Oga's Cantina (reservations encouraged), create your own Light Saber, or build a custom Droid!  Besides other favorite rides in this park (Tower of Terror, Toy Story's Slinky Dog Dash, Star Tours, and Rockin' Roller Coaster), Hollywood Studios also presents shows for the whole family to enjoy, including a *killer* Indiana Jones stunt show, Broadway-quality Beauty and the Beast, and super-magical Frozen and Little Mermaid shows.  Sitting in the shaded or indoor shows get you off your feet and out of the hot afternoon sun.

Another of its great theme parks, Disney's Epcot presents attractions for learning and technology.   The giant, iconic lit globe that Epcot is known for houses a slow-moving ride that takes us on the wonderful journey of learning through the known history of mankind, from caveman drawings to the development of the worldwide web.  My kids have probably learned more about history from this ride alone, than any history class!  Seriously.  Next, in the World Showcase, 14 countries from around the world are represented  with 1. one or more iconic architectural buildings (ie., a Mayan temple in Mexico, and the Eiffel tower in France); 2. shops, experiences, rides, or street shows for each; and 3. yummy foods from the region.  Staffed with foreigners from those specific locations, it offers a literal "taste" of  each of the countries.  Even younger kids can enjoy some aspects of World Showcase, like Disney character meet-n-greets and fun movie-themed rides like Ratatouille in France, Frozen in Norway, and Donald Duck in Mexico.  America presents a fantastic show with important historical figures, including Founding Fathers, Mark Twain, and inventors of technology.  Live bands play and sing music on scheduled nights throughout the year.   Outside of World Showcase, you can view the world on the 4D favorite ride Soarin', or observe marine animals in huge aquariums and "talk" to Nemo with other young kids and families.  The new Guardians of the Galaxy Marvel ride is bringing teens and young adults back into this park.  Disney offers an annual pass to Epcot that is just for evenings after 4 PM, so many local adults and retirees take advantage of the opportunity to attend the Spring Arts or Fall Wine and Cheese Festival around the World Showcase, and weekend evenings are particularly crowded there.

Lastly, Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park began as what guests called "a glorified zoo", but has been grown immensely in its popularity with Avatar's beautiful Pandora area, where you will find the outrageously popular 4D ride Flight of Passage, where guests ride through the breathtakingly beautiful land of Pandora on the back of a "breathing" Ikran.  Unless you get motion sickness easily, the experience on this ride is worth the wait!  There's just nothing like it.  Other favorites from this park are the rollercoaster ride up mount Everest, Safari ride on a huge Jeep-like vehicle to see wild animals including lions, hippopotamus, and giraffes without any visible cages, the Broadway-worthy Lion King show, and a Bug's Life in an underground theater made to look like an anthill from the inside.  Much more is coming to this park in the next few years, but there's enough fun to keep the family busy for a day, even if it's a shorter 8-10 hours, instead of 14 at Magic Kingdom!

Except for Florida residents and Military service families, Disney doesn't offer much discounting, but they do price by how busy the day is, so certainly reserving your dates with them on a quieter (less crowded) day/week saves both money and your time for much more rides and attractions throughout the day!  Undercovertourist.com is one of only a few legit venues for discount Disney tickets, and they also offer discount packages for other Orlando theme parks and attractions.  Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and his Very Merry Christmas Party are both evening events at Magic Kingdom, where crowds are limited by Disney, and extra special treats, character meet-n-greets, shows, and parades are unique, and so these separate tickets always sell out, sometimes months in advance.  Disney's waterparks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are constantly under renovation during the winter, and already-fun theming, pools, and waterslides are getting major facelifts still.  A one-time dream trip to Orlando without spending lots of time at Disney would be a tragedy.  Truly, this is where all the magic begins.
